The web-slinger returns to his comic book roots in a new Disney+ series.
Spider-Man is ready to suit up once again, and fans won’t have to wait much longer to see him in action.
While the next big-screen appearances of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse remain on the horizon, Marvel is filling the gap with an exciting animated offering. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, a Disney+ series, is set to debut next month, bringing a fresh take on the iconic hero that leans heavily into his comic book origins.
Formerly titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year, the show explores an alternate timeline where Peter Parker embarks on his heroic journey with an unexpected mentor: tech magnate Norman Osborn. This dynamic echoes Peter’s relationship with Tony Stark in the MCU, but with a twist — Osborn also moonlights as the Green Goblin, Spider-Man’s legendary nemesis.
The newly-released trailer teases a vibrant, comic-inspired animation style and a familiar premise. Peter is back as the endearing, nerdy teenager we know and love, grappling with his newfound powers and sense of responsibility.

“I truly believe that I have these powers to help people, to protect them,” Peter proclaims in the trailer. Viewers catch glimpses of him battling street-level villains, testing out a new suit, and even capturing attention during a livestream.
Hudson Thames lends his voice to Peter Parker/Spider-Man, joined by Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn, Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May, and Hugh Dancy as Doctor Octopus. Additionally, Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprise their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively. The cast also includes Paul F. Tompkins, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, and Zeno Robinson.
Jeff Trammell (Craig of the Creek, Amphibia) serves as head writer for the series, with Mel Zwyer (Young Justice) overseeing direction. Trammell has hinted at appearances by many beloved characters from Spider-Man’s comic book lore, some of whom have yet to make their MCU debut. Among the confirmed characters are Nico Minoru, Amadeus Cho, Lonnie Lincoln, Wakandan genius Asha, Dr. Chameleon, Speed Demon, Scorpion, Butane the Pyromaniac, Tarantula, Rhino, and Dr. Bentley Wittman.
The 10-episode series premieres on Disney+ on January 29. Don’t miss the trailer and get ready for an animated adventure with everyone’s favorite wall-crawler!
