Suits Creator Discusses Potential Reunion Movie: ‘That Could Be Fun’ (Exclusive)
The door isn’t fully closed on Suits.
With his upcoming spinoff Suits LA set to premiere on February 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, showrunner Aaron Korsh remains open to revisiting the beloved original series through a reunion movie.
“I was very satisfied with how Suits ended, but at some point, we might do a Suits movie, and that could be fun,” Korsh told Entertainment Weekly for their latest cover story. “Right now, it’s more of a hypothetical idea, so I wouldn’t have many answers for you. But it’s not an insane notion for us to do that someday.”
Originally premiering in 2011 on USA Network, Suits starred Gabriel Macht as sharp-witted lawyer Harvey Specter and Patrick J. Adams as Mike Ross, his brilliant yet fraudulent protégé. The show ran for nine seasons, concluding in 2019, but it experienced an unexpected surge in popularity in 2023. Thanks to its release on Netflix, the series smashed streaming records, with Nielsen reporting U.S. viewers watched a staggering 57.7 billion minutes. Suddenly, Suits became a global phenomenon, bigger than it ever was during its original run.

The show’s resurgence inspired Korsh to develop Suits LA, a spinoff set in the same universe and starring Arrow alum Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor turned entertainment lawyer. “I wasn’t quite done with the Suits universe,” Korsh explained. “This spinoff introduces a whole new group of characters, exploring their dynamics, passions, fears, hopes, and dreams. It’s been a lot of fun to go back to the start of something again.”
Korsh emphasized that Suits LA would be a fresh story, not a continuation of the original. Ted Black, while loosely connected to the Suits roots, harbors a mysterious past that unfolds throughout the first season via flashbacks.
“I didn’t want to create a season 10 of Suits — I feel like I mostly finished telling the stories of the original characters,” Korsh noted. “Fans on social media have made it clear they want that season 10 and their favorites back. I get it. It’ll take time for people to embrace these new characters, but I’m hopeful that by the end of the first episode, viewers will think, ‘Wow, this is its own thing with huge potential, and we’re excited to see what’s next.’”
Introducing a new Suits family comes with its own challenges. The spinoff’s ensemble includes Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead) as Ted’s best friend and criminal lawyer Stuart Lane, alongside Bryan Greenberg (One Tree Hill) and Lex Scott Davis (The L Word: Generation Q), who play Rick Dodson and Erica Rollins, the firm’s standout talents and competitive rivals.

“It’s like assembling a football team,” Korsh said. “You need a great game plan, the best players, and hope they work together to win. I’ve written the best scripts I can, and we’ve cast the best actors for these roles. Now, I’m just hoping the chemistry translates onscreen. Suits was lightning in a bottle, and I believe this cast has that same potential. Over time, we’ll see if we capture that magic again.”
The idea of a Suits movie first surfaced during a reunion panel at the ATX Festival in June, where Patrick J. Adams teased the possibility. “I have no power or authority, but I know Aaron [Korsh] is interested in the idea,” Adams shared. “It depends on so many factors, but could it happen? I think it’s possible.”
Suits also starred Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, and Meghan Markle (before she married Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex). Adams and Rafferty are currently revisiting the show through Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast on SiriusXM, where the two actors are watching Suits for the first time and reflecting on their iconic roles as Mike Ross and Donna Paulsen.
